Bakersfield to Bay area smoky yesterday. Worsens midway due to the 165000 acre fire in Big Sur. Still bearable, and better than the north valley Redding and above.
You just won't see all the pretty mountains like normal; but unless you are asthmatic you'll be fine.
I think they opened up highway 1 around big Sur yesterday too.

Wow, sure was nicer flying down to Vegas than driving back in an old gasser Grumman with no AC in the Mojave. Of course when I stopped in Yermo, it would not start again, too HOT. Spent an hour in Jack-in-box staying cool. I actually later got up to 65mph, downhill :)
13.5 hours, yechhhh!
Vince, we got free SF-Pirates tickets and also booked our ferry. 4 tickets free, ferry for 4-$60 :E
Heading to Lawson's in the morning to cool off, decompress, and walk off a few pounds I hope.....
Drove by Oasis, looked at all the rigs in Las Vegas, wanted to have the trailer there and the girls ;)

If you plan to see Hearst Castle, go up to Morro bay and Cambria, then cut over to 101.
Then up to Salinas and back to the coast to visit Carmel, Monterey, Santa Cruz; then up the coast to SFO.

Been to Sonoma many times, went again this year. What a show, they must have shot 150 shells in the finale; the sky was ablaze with color right over your head.
The launchers were in front of us 100 yards or less. What a show.
